FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much do the courses cost?

The cost is the same for either courses £395 for the Crash Course in Litigation and £395 for the Crash Course in Advocacy although we do offer a combined price for both courses of £650.

Do you offer online or virtual courses?

At this stage we don’t. We only offer in person courses as we believe that it is the most effective way of teaching participants and which allows the best opportunity for interaction and an enhanced learning experience. Our courses are also limited in size to no more than 20 participants to ensure that participants have plenty of opportunity to engage in the process and we have built in plenty of time for question and answer.

Do I need any pre-requisite knowledge of experience in law or court cases?

Absolutely not. Our courses are designed to assist those with no prior experience of the court system taking participants through every stage of civil litigation and advocacy. Our courses are also of benefit to those with experience of the justice system too as our trainers spend considerable time on the traps and pitfalls for the unwary litigant. This “inside” view of litigation is crucial for all participants whether novices or seasoned LIPs.

What type of litigation areas do your courses cover?

Our Crash Course in Civil Litigation course is aimed at people litigating in the County Courts and to a lesser extent the High Court. The course focuses on matters and procedure relating to typical claims for money, proprietary claims or injunctive relief. The obvious time restraints dictates that we cannot spend time on claims in all specialist proceedings in the High Court, such as insolvency and company matters, that have their own specialised procedure but as the Civil Procedure Rules still apply to those cases participants may still find much useful assistance in our courses.

The advocacy course will be useful for people involved in any type of litigation.

What do I need to bring to the course?

Only yourself. We with provide you with all course materials

Is there any pre-reading required?

It is not essential although we do provide some advanced reading material particularly for the Crash Course in Advocacy course where participants are provided with some mock case materials that will be used during the course.

What are the hours of the courses?

Our courses start with registration at 9am and commence at 9:30 until 5:30 pm with a 30 minute break for lunch at 1:30pm. Sandwiches are provided for those who want them and tea and coffee is available throughout the day.

Will I be competent to conduct my own litigation after attending your course/s?

Obviously the courses cannot teach you in one day what it takes lawyers many years to learn, however we have carefully designed our courses to help you understand and manage your own cases far more effectively. We particularly focus on assisting our participants with practical matters that often trap the unwary litigant. Our advocacy course teaches the basics   with an emphasis on the essentials required to better present your case in a real world practical way.
